SUSTAINABILITY

Our Mission

Together we improve the fashion industry

Thursdays would like to make consumers aware of everything that is happening in the fashion industry. Only if the consumer is aware of the fact that unsustainable materials are extremely polluting, that cheap production is often at the expense of living wages and that an insane amount of superfluous packaging materials will be used will the tide ever turn.

Our mission is to contribute to the improvement of the fashion industry together with our customers. We try on all fronts to choose the most sustainable option and take our followers via Instagram along during this journey. We share here which choices we make and why. Sometimes it is very small things that make the difference. When you are not working in the textile world, it is logical that you normally do not think about these little things. That is why we have taken it upon ourselves to make you more familiar with everything that happens from raw material to end product and how we try to make the right choices so that we can provide you with fair and sustainable garments.

The Factory

Together we make big dreams come true

Naturally, the factory is an important part of the chain. We have good living wages and good working conditions for the factory employees at the top of the list, which is why we traveled to China in October 2019. We visited a number of factories here and were finally able to make an informed decision. We are currently working together with two smaller, well-organized factories that meet all our requirements for sustainable production.

We have chosen China because it is one of the few countries where you can produce in small quantities. In addition, they can produce knitted and woven goods under the same roof, so that we can keep an overview. Because we work with two small factories, we have a good overview of everything that happens within the factory and how our collection is being worked on. We have met the people and receive daily updates and photos. In addition, we have weekly Skype meetings with the staff, with whom we have also developed a personal relationship.

We realize very well that we are in a tremendously luxurious position that we have the opportunity to make our dreams come true. This is also why we always want to encourage others to keep dreaming, including our factory employees. That is why we put the spotlight every season on an employee who receives one euro from every item sold at the end of the season. In this way we hope to contribute to making his / her dream come true.

The Collection

Sustainable, high-quality materials are central

In addition to the people we work with, the materials are of course very important. We only use substances with certificates. This way we can be sure that we use organic or recycled materials. We try to use sustainable leftover fabrics as much as possible. These are organic or recycled materials that are produced by brands but are not (fully) used. In this way, no new raw materials need to be used at all.
